Stewardship Update January 2010
THANK YOU to everyone who reviewed their giving to St Peter’s as a response to our Annual Stewardship Renewal in October. Asking for money in the current economic climate is not easy and I also appreciate that many of you took the time to review your giving, but at this time were unable to increase it.
Six members of the congregation joined the Planned Giving scheme enabling us to replace those who’d moved away or sadly died. The 37 responses we received have resulted in an extra £4,001 being pledged annually (£76.94 per week), this is an increase of 6% on the giving we were receiving before the renewal process. We project that our total annual income this year from Planned Giving including gift aid (assuming that everyone continues to give at the rate they have currently pledged) will be £91, 065.
As many of you are aware St Peters relies totally on the generosity of you the congregation to meet the full costs of our clergy, running the church and parish activities. This year will present its own variety of challenges, including rising costs and Nicks departure. However your giving should enable us to get close to balancing our books on an expected total expenditure of some £160,000.
During 2009 St Peter’s received two legacies, for which we are extremely grateful, totalling £28,000. Both legacies were non restrictive, which enables the Parochial Church council (PCC) to use the money where it sees a need. Although no specific decision has been made, the PCC’s current view is that such a substantial amount of money will be used for a specific project/ministry as yet unidentified.
If you have any questions regarding this or about Planned Giving or stewardship in general please do ask. Thank you once again for your continued generosity, support and prayers which I know will sustain us in the coming months.

A Prayer for Stewardship
Lord you have given us all we have,
Time, talent, health, wealth,
Gifts in abundance.
Just as you have given generously to us,
So may we return graciously to you.
We make our prayer through your most gracious gift to us
Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen
