| Thought for the week | Prayers |
Holidays are under way. The schools have broken up, and perhaps you will soon be taking off for some recreation, enjoyment and rest. Sometimes in the business world, this time of year is referred to as “The Silly Season”, because with so many staff on leave, it is often very difficult to make contact, or get things done, and those left holding the fort feel unable to take responsibility for decisions.
Thank goodness there is no time off or “Silly Season” for God. His lines are always open and there need never be any hindrance in our communication with Him. Yet - sometimes that welcome break from daily routine at holiday time, can result in a break from other important aspects of our lives too. Time for prayer may be pushed into the background, and God tends to be completely overlooked.
Yet this is a period when we can really benefit from some spiritual as well as bodily refreshment. Whether lying on a beach, climbing a mountain, enjoying new sights and locations, or just enjoying the garden at home, we can let our hearts and minds dwell on God’s bounty - the beauty of his creation, and thank Him for all the blessings in our lives. Prayer, thanks giving and just spending some time with God are vital and essential parts of EVERY DAY, including holidays, so don’t push God to the back of your mind this holiday season. Get to know Him better!
| Sunday | We pray that all who come to St. Peter’s today will feel welcome and find God’s love and peace here. |
| Monday | Continue to pray for Bishop Ian and Bishop Christopher as they deal with the issues raised at the Lambeth Conference. |
| Tuesday | We pray for those who find the summer difficult, especially the for the children who have to decide which parent to spend their holiday with. |
| Wednesday | We pray for those who can not afford to have a holiday this year. |
| Thursday | We thank God for all the blessings and small miracles in our lives which sometimes we take for granted. |
| Friday | Pray for yourself today; all your worries, concerns and issues and know that God is there beside you as you try to deal with them. |
| Saturday | We give thanks for the summer holidays and the opportunity to spend more time with our families. |
